Oftentimes when life drives us to the extreme, we sit in a place bemoaning our situation. As we sit there we unwittingly beckon for self pity, concluding that our situation is the worst.
A great warrior, a long time ago, came to his Waterloo as he returned from a battle only to discover his family had been taken captive by enemies. The enemies took away everything of value and burned the whole city down with fire.
“So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.
Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep” (1 Samuel 30:3-4)
Life sometimes can be tough for everyone of us. I’m sure like David in the above passage, you have come to a point in your life where you thought all was over, when you felt “holed up” in a pit of affliction.
But you see, it cannot be over for you until you give up on God and yourself. You must push on in faith. I want you to do three things David did to overcome.
First, no matter how bad your situation is right now, you must assure your soul on the Word that everything is going to turn out well for you. “but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. (1 Samuel 30:6). You have to learn to be the best preacher to your life.
Second, no matter what you face, seek counsel from the Lord before you act. “And David enquired at the Lord… (verse 8).
Third, step out to recover all by faith. Don’t wait to step out inky when it is convenient. Step out now! Go ahead and do it right now after reading this piece! “And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all” (verse 8).
God has given you His words: you will surely without failing recover all that you have ever lost. That is a wonderful assurance. Man can promise and fail. But if it is God, your victory, that testimony you have been expecting is guaranteed. Like He said to David, the Lord is saying the same thing to you today: pursue, for thou shalt surely overtake them.
Do you know David pursued and recovered all that the enemies had taken away from him? But if he had not taken that step of faith, He would have lost everything. If he had allowed fear to grip him down, his soldiers would have killed him.
Refuse to die of that sickness. Refuse to remain small. Determine that your dying marriage or business will rise again. Yes, dry bones can rise again by the anointing. Go for what is yours. Recover all by faith. Your testimonies will come, in Jesus name. Stay blessed
